Sedgwick County Commissioners received an update regarding the county's move to the Ruffin Building, at the northeast corner of Douglas and Broadway.

The move started in back in June. So far the County Finance, Clerk, Manager, Strategic Communications, Counselor, Commission, and Treasurer’s offices have opened in the new location. On Monday, Oct. 24, the Register of Deeds office will begin their move and will re-open on Nov. 3.
Work has started in the lower level auditorium to hold county commission meetings. The work should be finished next month, with the first meeting in the new location on Nov. 16.
In other news, the commission approved a $496 thousand bid to build a new bridge on 103rd Street South between 119th and 135th Streets West, in front of Clearwater High School. To avoid creating a traffic issue, the construction will not begin until the end of May 2023 and will be finished during the summer.
Commissioners approved a $300,000 settlement related to a two-vehicle crash that occurred in September 2020, at 263rd West and 71st St. South, killing Jessica Noel and four of her children. Noel was driving south on 263rd St. West when the driver of a semitrailer loaded with grain ran a stop sign while headed east on 71st St. South.
