One splash pad will not be open this weekend because of vandalism; the Planeview community is without its newly-installed splash pad, which may be closed all summer long.
There’s some frustration from parents and youngsters who use the splash pad at Planeview Park in the southeast part of Wichita. The City said someone stole the copper in the equipment that controls the splash pad.
The damage is bad enough that it’s going to take time to make repairs. The City said it won’t make those changes until the area is made more secure.

City pools have security cameras, but the splash pads do not.
Also, the City of Newton is working to fix an electrical issue at Springlake Splash Park and does not know when it will open for the season.
