Crews responded to the 17300 block of Oxnard Street around 5:40 a.m., according to CBS L.A.
The outlet also reported crews were using firefighting robots to help take out hotspots.
Fire crews told Fox 11 the fire may have started at a nearby homeless encampment.
People living in nearby neighborhoods, including Van Nuys and Sherman Oaks said it smells like burning oil.
