Attorney for Rebecca Grossman grilled a Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy on the witness stand Wednesday as the murder trial for the deadly hit and run in Westlake Village continues.

As KNX News' Margaret Cararro reports, the defense noted in its opening statement that the investigation into the crash that killed 11-year-old Mark Iskander and his eight-year-old brother Jacob was absolutely terrible.

Deputy Rafael Mejia was responsible for writing the traffic collision report, and during his testimony, an attorney for Grossman asked Mejia if he realized that there was someone picking up and moving evidence, during his investigation of the scene, he said no.

When asked if he realized a black SUV had gone through the same intersection just seconds before Mrs. Grossman, he also said no.

Mejia testified that they did not see any indication that another vehicle was involved when assessing debris at the scene; they only saw debris that suggested a white car was involved.

And while his report did indicate a Mercedes emblem was found, it was later reviled that two emblems were at the scene.

It should be noted that Mejia is one of the deputies who received photos from the Kobe Bryant crash site and made inconsistent statements regarding the time frame in which he deleted photos during the civil case.

Grossman's lawyers wanted to bring it up, but the judge decided it was irrelevant to this case.

Grossman has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including two counts of murder.
