BUENA PARK, Calif. (KNX) — Knott's Berry Farm hit pause on plans to renovate "Montezooma's Revenge," just one day after the planned closure, park officials said Tuesday.
The amusement park planned to shut down the historic coaster for an extensive overhaul until at least 2023. Fans, however, pleaded for the Farm to allow them the chance for one last ride before the cherished coaster closes, and Knott's Berry agreed. As a result, the coaster will remain open for a limited time. A specific closing date has yet to be defined.

"This flywheel-launched shuttle coaster was the first of its kind and will be upgraded with exciting changes while keeping the ride’s unique charm that our guests have loved for generations," the park said in a Facebook post Friday.
The ride is a top thrill experience, catapulting riders out of the station at 55 mph, up through a 76-foot, 360 degree loop and then to the top of a 148-foot tower in just 35-seconds, according to the park.
"The propulsion system is based on an aircraft carrier’s launch system and gives the rider the thrill of traveling 0 to 55 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds," park officials said in the ride's description.
While the park did not say when in 2023 the ride will reopen, officials did ask guests to "stay tuned" throughout the next year for updates.
