More e-bike rules are being enforced in the South Bay, this one geared toward students at the Manhattan Beach Unified School District.
Starting Monday, all the district’s middle and high school students who ride an e-bike to school now have to display a sticker to park on campus which says they've taken an approved safety course. either through a school-sponsored class or on their own.
“We’ve always had kids bicycling to school, but with the prevalence of e-bikes, we began to hear concerns, as many other communities do, about making sure the students obey the rules of the road – wearing helmets, stopping at stop signs, knowing how to signal properly for a left or right-hand turn,” Superintendent John Bowes told KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian.
If students don’t have the sticker, the school will inform their parents and make sure they take the classes before riding to school.
