Motorcyclist killed in crash near Hollywood Freeway

A motorcyclist was killed Monday in a crash near the Gower Street off-ramp from the Hollywood (101) Freeway in Hollywood.

The crash was reported about 4:15 a.m. near the northbound off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol, which said it did not appear any other vehicles were involved.

The Los Angeles Police Department was investigating.

The rider, described as a man about 50 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The CHP was asked to close the off-ramp and a SigAlert was issued.

A stretch of Gower Street was also closed.

The off-ramp and Gower Street were reopened about 10 a.m., according to the CHP.
