FRESNO, Calif. (KNX) — A young father working on a construction site for the Table Mountain Casino’s new hotel and casino in Fresno was badly injured Monday in an explosion.
Eric Magallon, 19, suffered second and third-degree burns in the explosion that took place in what’s set to be the food court of the new complex, according to ABC 30.

Magallon was taken to the ER by helicopter and went straight into a six-hour surgery to treat severe burns on half of his body, according to the news outlet.
"His back got the third-degree burns and he's got some second, third-degree burns in his shoulder," his mother Maria Magallon told ABC. "His leg is all bandaged up. It's very swollen. His hands are wrapped up. They are completely mummified."
Magallon’s parents said he works for a restaurant appliances company and that he was testing equipment for the new casino.
Eric's parents say he works for a company called Hobart that deals in restaurant appliances. He got into the same line of business as his father, who helped teach him the ropes of the job, ABC reported.
Less than a month ago, Magallon’s family said he became a father for the first time, welcoming a baby boy with his junior high school sweetheart fiancee.
"He was very excited to be a dad," Maria Magallon said. "They wanted to be young parents."
Magallon has a long road to recovery, according to his family, who said he has more surgeries ahead. He was responsive but could not speak yet and was expected to be hospitalized for several months, his family told ABC.
They have been in contact with CAL FIRE Fresno County, the company he was employed by and Table Mountain, but said they haven’t received any answers about the blast.
CAL FIRE Fresno County told ABC their investigation is still underway on the cause of the explosion. Table Mountain Rancheria said they are cooperating with the investigation.
