With challenges to the Biden administration's workplace COVID-19 vaccine rule, several companies have put their mandates on hold, including one by Disney World near Orlando, Florida.

Run by Walt Disney Co, the announcement of the mandate being put on hold was confirmed by a spokesperson on Saturday, according to Reuters.

In an email to Reuters, a Disney spokesperson shared the company's stance on the mandate and the COVID-19 vaccine.

"We believe that our approach to mandatory vaccines has been the right one as we have continued to focus on the safety and well-being of our Cast Members and Guests," the spokesperson said.

The company also shared that 90% of the active cast members have already been fully vaccinated at the Orlando resort.

Several companies met with White House officials last month to discuss the president's vaccine requirement plan for private-sector workers.

Some have criticized the mandate with labor shortages and supply chain issues, saying it will only worsen both issues. However, the president continues to plead with Americans to get the vaccine to stop the pandemic.

Still, the mandate has been put on hold as opponents say it violates the U.S. Constitution and curbs individual liberty.

Disney Cruise announced last week that all guests ages 5 and up would be required to show proof of vaccination before boarding its ships. The announcement came following the FDA and CDC approval of the Pfizer vaccine for children aged 5 to 11.

Walt Disney Co announced its vaccine mandate on July 30 for all of its on-site salaried and non-union hourly employees in the U.S. The mandate was influenced by the resurgence of the virus due to the Delta variant.
