DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Dallas County Sheriff's Department investigators hope the public can help them track down the car involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident Friday night.

Authorities say a red, four-door sedan and a GMC Envoy were traveling at a high rate of speed and possibly racing on southbound I-35E near Medical District Drive around 10:30 p.m. Friday. Sheriff's Spokesman Raul Reyna said the car reportedly clipped the SUV, causing it to hit several other vehicles and take out a section of guardrail.

Reyna said, "The GMC Envoy then went off the bridge and landed in the grassy area approximately 20 feet below. During all that, the person who was driving was ejected."

The driver of the Envoy, Magdeleno Rodriguez, 23, died at a local hospital.

Authorities want to find the driver of the red car. Reyna said, "The only information detectives have on it is that it is a four-door, red-colored sedan with a chrome bumper extending all the way around the trunk. It's got chrome door handles and chrome moulding around the windows."

Based on information from witnesses, investigators believe the red car could be a Kia Optima. Reyna said it's possible the car has cosmetic damage from the collision. Anyone with information is urged to call the Sheriff's Office at 214-749-8641 or the Vehicle Crimes Unit at 214-589-2315.
