DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A 12-year-old boy died Saturday afternoon after being struck by a car in the Red Bird area of Dallas.
Authorities say the child was collecting donations with his youth football team at the intersection of West Ledbetter Drive and Vista Wood Boulevard. He stepped off of a curb and was struck by a 2002 Nissan Altima.
The boy was taken to Children's Medical Center Dallas, where he was pronounced dead.
Jastasia King, 26, was driving the Altima. Police say King initially stopped after the collision, then got back in the car left the scene. She has been located and faces a charge of failure to stop and render aid.
