FRISCO (1080 KRLD) - People in Frisco now have an interactive way to measure crime in their neighborhoods.

The Frisco Police Department has rolled out an interactive crime map, which takes data from every call officers respond to. The data is converted into maps and charts to show the areas where crime is located, and reveal any trends.

"We get a lot of questions about what the crime data is and how an area compares, and I think this map will answer a lot of questions," says Frisco officer Radd Rotello. "Also if there's a trend showing up, you can see it happening every night as the map updates."

The police department's IT team is responsible for updating the map daily. This is not something that regular people can add to themselves.

The crime data shown on the map is everything from the most recent 30 day period.

Right now the map is only accessible through the Frisco police website. They are working on developing a version for smartphones.
