DALLAS (KRLD) - Police have charged two women in the deaths of two elderly people who were found dead in a Plano apartment Sunday.
Police have charged Carmen Moreno, 23, and Cynthia Wingate, 29, with the murders of Theresa Coomes, 71, and Jimmy Farris, 72.
McLennan County deputies stopped a car south of Waco for a traffic violation Sunday. Deputies say they found the identification, social security cards and credit cards of two other people inside.
They also found several knives and methamphetamine in the car driven by Moreno. She was arrested and charged with drug possession.
They say another car stopped, a woman got out and said the first driver had something that belonged to her. Deputies say the second woman who stopped had blood on her coat.
Wingate was arrested and charged with fraudulent possession of identifying information of an elderly person.
Investigators say both cars were registered to Farris, so they asked Plano police for a welfare check of the registered owners. Plano police found the two victims inside the apartment.
"The evidence that we have on these two young ladies is pretty compelling," Officer David Tilley with Plano police said. "It's something that we feel very good about on the case. I can't stress enough how everything just fell into place."
Moreno and Wingate remain behind bars in the Mclennan County Jail. Tilley says the next step will be to transfer the Moreno and Wingate to Collin County.
