Through Sunday, the Texas Department of State Health Services had reported 3,958 deaths from COVID-19. The agency says almost 20 percent of those deaths had come in the past week.

Friday, DSHS reported a record 174 deaths from COVID-19. The agency reported 130 additional deaths Saturday and 93 Sunday.

Two additional testing sites will open in North Texas this week.

In Dallas, a site opens at 10 a.m. Monday at Mountain View College. The testing site will be open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. after that.

Mayor Eric Johnson says there is no residency requirement. The Texas Division of Emergency Requirement says anyone in line by 2 p.m. will be able to get tested.

Sunday, Dallas County reported 1,044 additional cases of COVID-19 and two deaths.

Judge Clay Jenkins says half of cases confirmed since June 1 have been people between the ages of 18 and 39. He says additional restrictions should be allowed on restaurants.

"Since bars were closed, people who want to go bar-hopping are going to restaurants, and they're ordering a hamburger and six beers and continuing to socialize," Jenkins says. "That is not going to do much good for us until we close in-person dining options."

In North Fort Worth, a testing site opens Tuesday at JP Elder Middle School. That site is a partnership between the City of Fort Worth and Tarrant County and will be able to test 300 people a day.

"The reason we want to get the tests done is so if they're positive, we can get them to stay at home and let us know who they've been in contact with," says Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley. "Without doing that, we've just got that multiple effect of someone infects two or three people, then they infect two or three, and it multiplies pretty quickly."

Tests at Elder Middle School are free, but registration is required at https://covidtesting.tarrantcounty.com/ or by calling (817) 248-6299.
