Fort Worth Officer Hospitalized After Being Hit By Suspected Drunk Driver

FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Fort Worth police say one of their officers was hit by a drunk driving suspect early Friday morning.

They say the officer was assisting at a traffic stop along Highway 287 near Harmon in Far North Fort Worth at 2:45 a.m.

Police say an officer was setting out cones and flares to block traffic on 287. They say someone else hit the officer and the back of her car.

The officer was taken to JPS Hospital in serious condition, but Fort Worth Police say her injuries are not life threatening.

They say the drunk driving suspect, 32 year-old Oscar Jesus Barragan, pulled into the grass along the side of 287 and ran off.

Police launched Air One and spotted the suspect walking along the service road.

Police say Barragan had three outstanding warrants.
