FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - A home intruder is fighting for his life after the homeowner shot him inside his home.
The intruder was inside a home on Northwest 30th St. when the homeowner returned, noticed forced entry, and encountered the intruder.
"At that point, the family member used a weapon and shot multiple times at the suspect," says Fort Worth officer Daniel Segura. "The suspect was wounded and ran out of the house and later on was caught not too far away from the house. He had been transported to the hospital and is reported in critical condition."
It appears that the intruder picked his target at random.
"I don't think there's any previous history or any relationship between the suspect and the homeowner," says Ofc. Segura.
The homeowner is being cooperative during the investigation, and it's unknown at this time whether charges will be filed against the homeowner.
"It will be filed with the district attorney's office after the suspect and/or the family member, provides a full statement," Segura says.
