The Lewisville ISD is joining a growing list of school districts opting to delay the start of in-person classes.
Officials with the district say the semester will kick off in August with virtual learning, but students will not be allowed to return to campus until September 8 ... at the earliest.
"We do not take this lightly," says LISD Superintendent Dr. Kevin Rogers in an announcement video posted on the district's website. "We understand the tremendous ripple effect those decisions have on our families, our staff members, and our community."
Rogers says school officials will continue leaning on health experts and medical professionals and adjusting plans as needed.
The decision to delay the start of in-person class came after a recommendation by Denton County health officials that all districts in the county keep their campuses closed until after Labor Day.
