CLEBURNE (1080 KRLD) - Governor Greg Abbot recently amended his order limiting outdoor gatherings, allowing local authorities to set limits within individual communities.
In Cleburne, Mayor Scott Cain has declared July 4th a time to gather. Yesterday, he issued a standing order that all outdoor gatherings of 10-100 people in Cleburne are approved.
Cain says the pandemic will be long-lasting and people need to learn how to live with it. He says that includes learning how to hold get-togethers safely.
"We're going to be doing this for a long time," Cain says. "If we're going to be able to stay open and enjoy our freedoms, we're going to have to learn in this COVID environment how to live."
Cain announced the news on Facebook yesterday, noting that people should use common sense if they choose to gather in large crowds:
Collin County Judge Chris Hill issued a similar order, giving folks permission to gather in groups of 10 or more within the county.
