DALLAS (KRLD) - A Southwest Airlines pilot had the honor of flying his father's remains home to Dallas more than 50 years after his dad was shot down over Laos during the Vietnam War.
Bryan Knight was only five when his father went missing after his Air Force fighter was shot down in 1967.
Only recently were his remains recovered and identified with the help of dental records. Yesterday, Knight -- now a captain with Southwest Airlines -- was pilot-in-command of the flight that landed at Love Field where his father's flag-draped casket was off-loaded and escorted by an honor guard to a hearse.
The entire terminal complex at Love Field was in silence after it was announced that the remains of Air Force Colonel Roy Knight Junior were on the Tarmac.
He will be buried in Weatherford this weekend.
