Spokesman Robert Hurst says "any visitors who reside in an affected county will be required to complete the TDCJ Covid-19 screening. And should any visitor not meet those requirements or demonstrate signs of illness, that visitation will not be approved."The screening is a questionnaire regarding travel history and contacts with anyone who has tested positive. There have been cases reported in Collin, Dallas, Fort Bend, Gregg, Harris, Montgomery and Tarrant Counties.Regarding inmates themselves, Hurst says "we are taking every precaution necessary for their safety and welfare as well. Heavy sanitizing of the units and we are making sure everyone is as safe as possible."
