DALLAS (KRLD) - A woman is suing American Airlines after she says she was sexually harassed on a flight.

The woman was flying from Europe to DFW airport last November and claims the flight attendants over-served the man sitting next to her.

The federal lawsuit claims that as the flight progressed, the man became increasingly aggressive in his sexual advances towards her, making lewd comments and even grabbing her arm.

She says she ultimately moved to the back of economy class on the flight to avoid further harassment from the man.

The woman is seeking at least $1 million in compensation and five-million dollars in punitive damages from the Fort Worth-based airline.

Dallas civil attorney Rogge Dunn who isn't connected with the case says it comes down to liability.

"Certainly an airline has the duty not to over-serve a passenger. But does that create the foreseeability that the passenger will sexually assault someone? It will be a hurdle the woman will have to jump," Dunn says.

The airline says in a statement that it's deeply troubled by the allegation and that in cases of misconduct, standard protocol is to separate the passengers and to have law enforcement meet the aircraft upon arrival.
