DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A young family nearly killed in the Dallas tornado are now telling their story.
Sunday night, Alonzo Peavey was driving on I-35E near Walnut Hill when the twister passed right over his car. His fiance was alongside him and their two-year-old son was in the backseat.
With the car shaking and the windows breaking, Peavey tells our news partner NBC-5 he jumped in the back seat and covered the toddler with his own body.
Despite their car being destroyed, the family survived unscathed.
