Earlier this week, the owner of Highland Park Cafeteria announced the restaurant would be closing permanently after 95 years in business.
Friday marked the start of an online auction to sell off the assets from the iconic cafeteria in Dallas' Casa Linda neighborhood.
ATX Auctions is handling the sale, and their Chad Hodges told KRLD they have already had hundreds of calls to inquire about the equipment and memorabilia up for bid through June 10.
One of the most high-profile lots is made up of the presidential portraits and biographies that lined the wall that led to the serving line at Highland Park Cafeteria. Hodges said all the portraits will be sold in one group. He estimates the winning bid could exceed $10,000.
The cafeteria auction is being conducted online, but Hodges said there will be a special in-person event June 9 to sell individual serving trays and glasses that include the Highland Park Cafeteria name.
