Cowboys rookie defensive tackle Mazi Smith will make his NFL debut when Dallas takes the field for their preseason opener against Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday afternoon at AT&T Stadium, Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Smith participated in the team's padded practice on Thursday after sitting out practice on Tuesday to undergo a 'precautionary' MRI on his knee. Gehlken reported that the MRI on Smith's knee came back clean.
Smith had been dealing with a lingering tendentious issue in his knee throughout training camp.
Smith had 48 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and .5 sacks in his final season with Michigan.
