Four people are dead and two people are in custody after a crash in Grand Prairie that may have involved racing, police say.

The incident happened around 8:15 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of S. Belt Line Road and Kingston Drive, Grand Prairie police said.

Police said a Chevy Traverse was making a left turn onto Kingston when it was struck by a red Dodge Charger. Police said they believe the Charger was racing another vehicle.

Three occupants of the Traverse were pronounced dead at the scene and a fourth died from their injuries at the hospital, police said. A fifth person was still in critical condition on Sunday night.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the Traverse, 20-year-old Jaime Mesa, was taken to a hospital with injures that were not believed to be life-threatening. He faces one charge of racing on a highway causing death, four charges of manslaughter, one charge of racing on a highway causing serious bodily injury, and one charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The driver of the second racing vehicle was arrested around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Anthony Morales, 22, faces four charges of racing on a highway causing death and one count of racing on a highway causing serious bodily injury.

The victims had not been identified Monday morning.
