Meet Bella Boop, our featured 'Adoptable Pet Pal' this week.

She is big brown Dogue de Bordeaux mix who weighs in at a whopping 66 pounds. Bella Boop is an eccentric but lovable older lady who has come into the care of the SPCA of Texas. She is adored by the staff for her full-body wiggles and zoomies around the yard. Her smooshy face is all smiles when she gets an extra treat here and there. Bella Boop is well-mannered, and she even knows the Sit command. While she loves humans, she is not good with other dogs. She is also prone to chase small critters so it is best if Bella Boop is the only dog in a calm, adult-only home. Bella Boop is current on all her vaccinations and waiting for her forever home at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas.

Meet Lady Bird

She is no relation to any other famous birds, but she is a pretty cool chick. Lady Bird is a five-year-old American Blue Heeler mix who weighs 42 pounds. She has white fur with the proverbial brown patch over her right eye. Lady Bird came to the SPCA of Texas from an animal cruelty case in Hunt County where she and her six new puppies were living in less-than-desirable conditions. She had a bit of a cough when she came in, but she’s been patched up and is ready to go to a new forever home. Lady Bird has been spayed and is current on all her necessary vaccines. She is waiting at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas and can be visited on any day between noon and 6 p.m.

Meet Rey

His name means “king” and this little fella would be happy to wear a crown with his two siblings in a new forever home. Rey is five years old and is pair-bonded with Wero and Sophie, also in the care of the SPCA of Texas. It would be best for all if the threesome could be adopted together. Their profiles are also online at SPCA.org/dogs. It would also be ideal if any children in the home were at least 12 years of age, and all family members should meet the Chihuahua trio before adoption. These dogs were found wandering stray in the far north DFW area back on April 20. They are now well cared-for, vaccinated and ready to share a happy life with the right people parents. They are in foster care, so a prior appointment is necessary to meet them.

Meet Sea Bass
UPDATE: Sea Bass has been adopted and found his forever home!

This is a pretty kitty with black fur, a white underside, and stark white whiskers. He is three-and-a-half years old and weighs just 10 pounds. Sea Bass is somewhat on the shy side when first meeting someone but warms up after a while. He’s a chill character who would appreciate a calm and quiet environment, especially as he settles in. From there he is quite the affable gentlemen and should be okay sharing space with another cat. It would be best if all children in the home were at least 12 years of age. Sea Bass is neutered and current on all vaccines. He is waiting for his forever home at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, and is available to meet seven days a week from noon until 6 p.m.

Regular adoption fees are $150 for puppies and kittens aged 0-6 months and $75 for adult dogs and cats aged 6 months or older. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and an FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of PetHealth Insurance provided by PetHealth, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag, and a free leash.

The Jan-Rees Jones Animal Care Center is open to visitors seven days a week from 12-6 p.m. Appointments are available for select foster animals. Please browse available animals at spca.org/findapet and visit spca.org/dogadopt to inquire about a dog or spca.org/catadopt to inquire about a cat.

KRLD values the connection between animals and people. Through the incredible selflessness of animal advocates who rescue, rehabilitate, foster and adopt animals, we hope to be partners in finding safe and forever homes for these animals in need.
