U.S. Rep. Colin Allred (D-Dallas) delivered a farewell address on the floor of the U.S. House on Tuesday, reflecting on his time serving Texas’ 32nd Congressional District.
In his remarks, Allred emphasized his commitment to cutting through red tape and helping his constituents navigate government systems.
Allred’s departure comes after his unsuccessful bid to unseat Republican Sen. Ted Cruz in the November election.
Democrat Julie Johnson, who won the race to succeed Allred, will assume the seat in January. She has pledged to build on Allred’s legacy of constituent service and advocacy for North Texas.
