A spokesman for American Airlines pilots' union is blasting the air carrier which is being fined more than $4 million by the federal transportation department.

A statement from DOT says the fine is for leaving passengers stranded in planes parked on the tarmac for three hours or more.

The $4.1 Million fine is the agency's largest penalty for any airline for breaking this rule.

American Airlines Captain Dennis Tajer, with the Allied Pilots Association, tells NBC-5 "that's $4-million worth of American Airlines money that is going to pay for a management mistake." Tajer goes on to say "shame on you and don't let it happen again."
