Several school districts across North Texas are canceling classes on Friday, November 3, for the Texas Rangers Championship Festivities.

The parade and ceremony honoring the Rangers will be held Friday in the Arlington Entertainment District starting at 12:15 p.m.

So far, schools in the Arlington ISD, Mansfield ISD, Grand Prairie ISD, Irving ISD, and Everman ISD are calling off classes for the day.

“This is the first championship win for the Rangers in their history,” said Dr. Steven Wurtz, interim superintendent for the Arlington ISD. “It’s a huge day for sports fans, and we’re excited to celebrate with the team and the community.”

The Texas Rangers organization requested Arlington ISD marching band students to perform.

The district is coordinating students from all six traditional high schools to make up one combined band. “We are thrilled about this opportunity for our students,” said Wurtz. “They are so talented and everyone will know that after they see them perform at the parade.”

School officials in Mansfield said they are also closing schools to allow students and staff to celebrate the Rangers’ historic World Series win.

After the parade, the team will hold a public ceremony in the North Plaza outside Globe Life Field, where fans can hear from their favorite players.

Free parking surrounding Globe Life Field and AT&T Stadium will be open to the public at 8 a.m. The Live! by Loews parking garage, Cowboys parking Lot 4 and Rangers’ parking lots A, B, R and T, all of which are inside the parade route, will be closed to vehicles before and during the festivities.
