Arlington Police have made a second arrest in the robbery of a payday loan business on Pioneer Parkway on Jan. 10. They say two men went into the business, pointed guns at four employees, and forced them into the back while they "rummaged" through their desks and purses.

Police say a passerby called 911 when he saw men walk in with guns.

"Our community loves us. They're supportive of us," says Chief Al Jones. "That just shows when you have the people of your community, the eyes and ears, willing to give us a call, that's how we keep Arlington safe."

Thursday, Arlington Police released surveillance video from inside the business as well as body and dash cam video.

Jones says police set up a perimeter, and officers knocked on the back door. He says they then took cover behind their cars and yelled to the men inside.

"My officers did a fantastic job in their response," he says. "We train for situations like this."

Jones says one person ran out the back door. He says a second pointed a gun outside the door and shot at police. Jones says two officers then fired back.

No officers, suspects or employees were hurt. The suspect charged with shooting at police was arrested that night. Kelvin Bivens, 37, was charged with aggravated assault against a public servant and aggravated robbery.

The second suspect was arrested Thursday in Arlington. Kevin Lewis, 38, was charged with aggravated robbery. Jones says they identified Lewis from personal items he left in a car that was left at the scene.

"I don't think this business was targeted at all," says Chief Al Jones. "There is no relationship to the suspects in this business and the employees. I think it was just opportunity."

Jones says the two officers who fired have returned to work. Thursday, Bivens was in the Tarrant County Jail and Lewis was in the Arlington city jail. Bivens also had an outstanding warrant for felony assault from Shreveport, Louisiana.
