SMU introduced Adia Barnes as its new women's basketball coach on Wednesday. Barnes spent the previous nine seasons at Arizona.

Barnes brings a wealth of experience and national recognition to the Mustangs after spending nearly a decade at Arizona, where she transformed the Wildcats into a perennial contender. Her tenure included six consecutive postseason appearances and a trip to the NCAA championship game in 2021.

SMU officials said they are counting on Barnes’ track record of success—both on the court and in the community—to usher in a new era for the program as it prepares to enter one of college basketball’s most competitive conferences.
