Bullied Difference Maker becomes advocate for other victims

A middle schooler who was brutally bullied by his classmates is now an advocate and champion for others who feel they don't have a voice. He's this week's KRLD Difference Maker.

His story made headlines. SeMarion Humphrey, who was 13 at the time,  said he’d been invited to a sleepover by his classmates where he says he was physically and mentally abused.

His mom Summer Smith - says she was shocked when she heard what happened...

“It felt like a punch in the gut,” she said.

But SeMarion’s way of getting even was by speaking out and creating a non-profit called SeMarion's Voice.

“It’s a non-profit to be the voice that other kids feel like they don’t have,” SeMarion said. “I know that a lot of people feel like they can’t say anything. They’re just scared to speak out and I just want to show them that it’s not a bad thing to speak out.”

“I’m just so proud of him,” Summer said. “His resilience and his strength and just seeing how he wanted to take the things that happened to him and not be a victim. He said he wanted to change the world and I said, ‘I will absolutely help you.’”

We're proud to call SeMarion Humphrey and SeMarion's Voice this week's KRLD DIfference Maker.

SeMarion’s voice is holding and anti-bullying rally on Sunday, October 17th from 3pm-6pm at McCall Plaza at 998 E. 15th St, Plano, TX 75074.
