Eleven days after a massive warehouse fire in Fort Worth, firefighters and contractors are still working the scene.
On the night of October 6th, flames erupted inside a warehouse on Cullen near the Jacksboro Highway bridge. The warehouse was filled with pallets of alcohol-based hand sanitizer which fueled the fire through the night.
The overhaul and clean-up has been going on ever since. The Fort Worth Fire Department has been working with regulators like Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the Fort Worth Code Compliance Department and the Tarrant Regional Water District.
Bottles of the hand sanitizer have been found along the Trinity River because they were washed down storm drains which empty into the river. Contractors have been brought in to clean up the debris in the water.
Other contractors at the site are using heavy equipment to move everything out of the warehouse and into smaller, more manageable piles.
