A Tarrant County official is raising concerns about transparency in the sheriff's office after a man's in-custody death last month.

Tarrant County Commissioner Manny Ramirez says the sheriff's office has fallen short when it comes to communication with the public about critical incidents.

The issue came to a head this week when relatives of Anthony Johnson, who died at the Tarrant County Jail on April 21, took their complaints to county commissioners.

Johnson's relatives want the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office to release any video it has of the incident.

Ramirez said he circulated a proposed policy for these types of cases to fellow commissioners that would set a timeline for releasing video and other information. He wants commissioners to put it on their next agenda for discussion.
