The Container Store will begin renovating 98 stores nationwide this week as it prepares for its acquisition by Bed Bath & Beyond.

The Coppell-based retailer announced April 23 that it is launching a chainwide “Store Changing” event starting Friday, April 24. Crews will reset selling floors and liquidate about 30 percent of select categories and stock-keeping units to create space for new merchandise.

Beginning in May, the affected locations in 34 states will transition over the following months into the new “The Container Store + Bed Bath & Beyond” format. The combined stores will offer The Container Store’s signature organization and storage solutions alongside a wider selection of home goods, kitchen items, bath products and more from Bed Bath & Beyond.

The changes stem from Bed Bath & Beyond’s $150 million agreement to acquire The Container Store, Elfa and Closet Works, announced earlier this month. The deal is expected to create a more complete home retail experience and expand Bed Bath & Beyond’s physical footprint after its emergence from bankruptcy.

In the DFW area, the following Container Store locations will undergo the renovation and transition to the combined format:

  • Arlington (4000 Arlington Highlands Blvd, Suite 101)
  • Dallas (13710 Dallas Parkway)
  • Dallas (7700 West Northwest Hwy, Suite 500)
  • Fairview (151 East Stacy Rd)
  • Fort Worth (4601 West Freeway, Suite 500)
  • Plano (8460 Parkwood Blvd)
  • Southlake (1200 Main St)

These seven North Texas stores are part of the initial wave of changes beginning in May, with the reset already underway as of this week.

The Container Store operates nearly 100 locations across the country, including multiple stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The renovations will not affect store closures or major job losses at this time, though the company is streamlining inventory to improve space productivity.

Customers can expect discounts on select items during the reset period while the stores prepare for the phased rollout of new products later this year. The overhaul marks the latest step in the evolving retail partnership and is designed to better serve shoppers seeking one-stop home organization and furnishing solutions.
