The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms with veteran edge rusher Von Miller on a one-year contract, the team announced Sunday night. The deal brings the DeSoto native and Texas A&M product back home for his 15th NFL season.
Miller, 37, is the NFL’s active leader in career sacks with 138.5, a total that ties him with former Cowboys great DeMarcus Ware for ninth on the all-time list. He is a Super Bowl 50 MVP, two-time Super Bowl champion and eight-time Pro Bowler. Last season with the Washington Commanders, he recorded nine sacks while playing a rotational role.
According to the Cowboys, Miller will join a pass-rush group that already includes Rashan Gary, Donovan Ezeiruaku and first-round pick Malachi Lawrence. The team is still working to clear a roster spot to make the signing official.

Miller celebrated the news by posting a photo of himself in a Cowboys uniform with the caption “Hereee Weee Gooo.” He had publicly expressed interest in joining Dallas throughout the offseason.
The announcement came one day after the Cowboys opened the preseason with a 17-7 victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks on Saturday night at Lumen Field. It marked Dallas’ first preseason-opening win since 2017.
Miller is expected to provide veteran leadership and depth as the Cowboys continue reshaping their defense under first-year coordinator Christian Parker.
