A Dallas-based company is building a 3-D printed house in Collin County.
Treyvon Perry with the firm Von Perry says it is the first of its kind in north Texas.

“We’re 3-D printing the first house in the Dallas area out of concrete mix," Perry said. "With our process, we take things pretty quickly.
We were able to get it designed for our clients within around two weeks, polish it out and have it fully built within maybe two months."
Most homes build using the 3-D printing process use a special mix of concrete that's more expensive, but the one under construction outside Nevada in Collin County is being built using a regular concrete mix.
A giant 3-D printer from a company in Minnesota will create the walls and other key components of the home.
"When it comes to designing, 3-D printing offers a lot more flexibility to architects," said Perry.
"Our first project is a lot more traditional, but in the future we plan to give our clients a lot more customization."
He expects construction to take about two months.
Perry says the 3-D printing process has some advantages over traditional construction methods, which are increasing in price due to shortages of both labor and materials.
"Definitely affordability, and time and cost to build." he said.
