"The convention center wasn't available," says Pastor Wayne Walker, CEO of OurCalling. "So it was just the City of Dallas using their creativity to find an empty space that can hold a lot of people and have warmth and a lot of restroom facilities."

Walker says dozens of organizations are partnering with the city to make sure people have warm beds and hot meals. They’re planning to house more than a thousand people in the Automobile Building for the next several days.

Search and rescue teams are already out warning homeless people about the weather.  Walker says these temperatures aren’t just dangerous-- they’re deadly.

OurCalling is asking for help getting people out of the cold. You can learn more about how to assist their mission here.
