After years of anticipation, Dallas has officially opened the Bachman Lake Skatepark, a 45,600-square-foot facility designed for skateboards, BMX bikes, rollerblades, and scooters. The $3.9 million project, funded through the 2017 bond program, marks the city's first large-scale concrete inground skatepark, offering a dynamic space for skaters of all skill levels.
The park features a Street Scape Area, Flow Bowl, Snake Run, and Pool Bowl, catering to both beginners and seasoned riders. Designed by Team Pain Skateparks, the facility was built with input from the local skateboarding community to ensure an optimal riding experience.
City officials, including Mayor Eric L. Johnson, celebrated the grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, highlighting the park's role in expanding recreational opportunities in Dallas. The skatepark sits at Bachman Lake Park, a location with deep roots in the city's skateboarding history—once home to the legendary Clown Ramp, where icons like Tony Hawk made appearances in the 1980s.
With the new skatepark now open, Dallas skaters finally have a dedicated space to hone their skills, and officials hope it will become a regional destination for action sports enthusiasts.
