Some Dallas school kids have a lot of brand new supplies thanks to Dallas police officers who made the rounds at John Neely Bryan Elementary on the first day of school yesterday.
The officers delivered about 400 bags of supplies to kids in more than two dozen classrooms.
Police Chief Eddie Garcia and some of his command staff greeted the kids and cheered them on to a great school year. Garcia said this part of the department's weed-and-seed plan to both weed out the criminals in the community while also seeding "positivity in the community."
While most Dallas schools start classes next week, several dozen welcomed students yesterday in schools that are transitioning to a new calendar where classes start sooner in the Fall and last longer in the Spring.
