The City of Dallas will soon launch a new program putting cameras on sanitation trucks that will collect data on potential code violations.
City Councilwoman Paula Blackmon says they did have questions over any possible privacy violations with the new program that will be used to make improvements throughout the city.
"That's why it is capturing data from the street," Blackmon said. "Just like if we had a code officer driving by, or say their neighbor driving by, or somebody driving by, there's nothing going on that's deeper than just what a typical street view looks like."
The information will be run through AI for code officers to make improvements to the city.
It is believed the entire city can be scanned within a month. The program could begin later this year.
