As housing costs across North Texas continue to rise, Dallas voters will be deciding on a $1.25 Billion bond part of which deals with keeping housing affordable.

Two of the ten items in the Dallas bond package deal with housing and homelessness. kirk Presley works for a mixed-income developer and says the proposition for economic development also applies to housing.

Housing Forward's Brian Toney says money from these issues would give people a permanent home, giving them a better chance to work and continue the city's growth.

Dallas City Councilwoman Cara Mendohlson supports some parts of the bond but says she does not support the housing measure. She wrote an op-ed in the Dallas Morning News saying the city already has more than a dozen housing development tools at its disposal, so they have other ways to pay for programs like this without taking on more debt.
