A judge in Denton has sentenced a man to 30 years in prison for murdering his roommate.
In Janurary 2023, Davontay Dashield got into an argument with his roommate, 43-year-old Cory Johnson. Minutes later Dashield shot Johnson dead. Others in the apartment complex on Eagle Drive called the police.
When they got there, Johnson was still alive. He died a short while later at a nearby hospital. But the police noticed something else. Dashield not only returned to the apartment while they were investigating, he showed up at the hospital.
He was arrested several months later. Dashield pleaded guilty to a murder charge and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
