The COVID-19 pandemic has led to troubling financial times for companies of all industries, and that includes Esports Stadium in Arlington.

The company that manages Esports Stadium has announced that it has let go its top two executives including President Jonathon Oudthone, and Director of Partnerships Johnathon Angers.

"The strain placed upon the stadium by the economic fallout of COVID-19, like most of the world, has forced painful sacrifices," tweeted Luke Bauer, who has taken over as president of Esports Stadium's management company. "We thank President Jonathan Oudthone and Johnathon Anger for their work."

In addition, Bauer says all but two staffers have been furloughed, and that his executive team will be working on a volunteer basis for the time being.

Bauer says Esports Stadium remains committed to its partners in the industry, the city and the community.

Esports Stadium is the end result of a $10 million conversion of the Arlington Convention Center, which was completed in 2018.

"We see a bright future for our new Esports Stadium and look forward to working with the management team," Arlington Deputy City Manager Jim Parajon says in a statement provided to KRLD.
