The Dallas Fire-Rescue Department responded to a structure fire early Friday morning at a building in downtown Dallas.
According to an official statement, emergency crews were dispatched at 5:02 a.m. due to a fire alarm at the David Building on 1309 Main St. The fire originated in the building’s basement pump room, and was quickly contained and extinguished.
Despite the fire being gone, there was still a significant amount of smoke and carbon monoxide remaining in the basement. Dallas Fire-Rescue then started an extended response from themselves and HazMat teams.
As a precaution, building management and residents were informed of the situation.
No civilian injuries were reported, and residents are now allowed back inside. One firefighter was transported to the hospital for suspected carbon monoxide exposure. Officials say he is in stable condition and expected to recover.
