Iconic comedian Chris Kattan is bringing laughter and much-needed joy to the Big Life Comedy Club in Fort Worth on March 22 and 23.

Known to many as a former cast member of Saturday Night Live, Kattan joined KRLD's John Liddle to talk about his comedy journey, his approach to stand-up, and what the audience can expect from his upcoming show.

In the eight years Chris starred on SNL, he became best known for his characters "Mango," "Mr. Peepers" and one of the "Butabi Brothers" opposite Will Ferrell.

So does he feel like he has to do those characters when performing standup?

"I don't have to. I like to do it because the audience loves it, so I do whatever the audience loves. I mean, that's part of doing stand-up," Kattan said.

Kattan's stand-up promises a blend of humor, crowd interaction, and self-deprecation, ensuring each show is a unique experience.

"Sometimes I make characters on the spot and, based on the audience," Kattan said. "I improvise with the audience. It's fun, and it's freeing, and great to incorporate whatever's happening at the moment into my work on the stage."

His roots are actually in improvisational comedy, so he's able to incorporate audience participation into his sets.

"I actually didn't do stand-up in the beginning. I did improvisation. I was in a group called the Groundlings... So it was all a lot of improvisation. That's where I came up with the characters," he said.

Kattan said the weekend's show will showcase his ability to connect with the audience and deliver a night of laughter.

"It's a really good time. It's a good place to go if you wanna laugh, and god knows we all need laughter right now, and laughter is medicine, and it's a great healing force," he said.

Kattan will be playing at the Big Life Comedy Club in Fort Worth on Friday, March 22, and Saturday, March 23. There will be shows at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. each night. Tickets start at $25.
