FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD)- A Fort Worth non-profit is awarded a hefty grant to conduct anti-racism education community workshops.

Alliance Child and Family Services was awarded a $10,000 grant from the North Texas Community Foundation.

"We were awarded the grant in order to lead a variety of workshops, specifically regarding anti-racism," says Anastasia Taylor, ACFS founder and executive director.

Taylor says racism has been a problem for years; not only in North Texas, but across the whole country.

"I'm grateful that if anything had to come from the most unfortunate events, and especially the murder of George Floyd, that it's more people being willing to make the conversation and to fund efforts like this," Taylor says. "We are excited to be working with our community on some really hard topics and discussions that we know will make long lasting impacts, hopefully for generations to come."

ACFS is currently working on scheduling the workshops.

"They will be done across the next 12 months, likely with the first one being scheduled upcoming in May," says Taylor. "We will have a lot of them done virtually, simply so we can expand our impact; possibly some in person, just depending on location."
