Fort Worth police rescue a girl they say was being trafficked.
Officers received information this week that a 16-year-old girl who ran away from her home near Waco was in the area.
On Monday, police rescued the girl.
"We've got enough of the location area that we were able to set up a covert operation to go and rescue her," says Sgt. Brian Johnson with the Fort Worth Police Department's Human Trafficking Unit.
The suspect is Dcormon Harris, 27, of Fort Worth, and he told investigators he and the girl were in a relationship.
"She had been with him for several months, on and off," says Sgt. Johnson.
The girl is now safely back home.
"She did go through a forensic interview and was returned to her guardian," Sgt. Johnson says.
Harris is charged with trafficking a person under the age of 18 and is in the Tarrant County Jail on $50,000 bond.
