The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo opens its 23-day run today, and for the first time since Covid hit, the All-Western Stock Show Parade is returning.

The Stock Show dates back to 1896, bringing Texans from all over to gather in Fort Worth for a celebration of our western heritage.

For generations, the All-Western parade has been a big part of festivities. But the whole Stock Show was canceled in 2021 because of fears over Covid.

Last year, the event returned but the parade was called off because of dangerous, ferocious winds. But this year, the weather looks great so it's all good to go for Saturday.

The parade steps off at 11 a.m. and organizers are expecting a big turnout along the parade route through downtown Fort Worth. There will be a lot of participants, too. More than 2,000 horses will be on parade along with floats, dignitaries and bands. And that includes the 220-strong TCU Horned Frogs band fresh off their return from Monday night's CFP title game in California.

And if you buy a ticket to the parade, you'll also get a complimentary admission to the Stock Show grounds any one day of the Show's 23-day run.

Thursday night, the Fort Worth Stock Show Syndicate confirmed they now have nearly 330 steer commitments to this year's show ahead of the February 4th Sale of Champions auction. Proceeds will go to the young people who raise and show their animals.

The Syndicate bills itself as the "single largest financial supporter of youth exhibitors at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Video." The Syndicate says it has distributed nearly $60-million since it was founded in 1980.
