Ennis police believe a long-time fugitive suspect in the 2012 murder of a teenager has been found in Mexico.
Ten years ago, 15-year-old Moriah Gonzalez was found murdered. Police immediately identified two suspects; a man named Joe Alvarado and an 18-year-old named Jennifer Puente.
Alvarado was captured, tried, convicted and sentenced to 34 years with another 20 added on for tampering with evidence. But Puente vanished.
There were occasional rumors that she was spotted in or around Laredo. But now, Ennis police say they have been contacted by Texas DPS officials which said they had been contacted by Mexican Federal Police who reported having Puente in custody.
Ennis Police says the US Marshal's Service is working to confirm it's the same woman wanted in the Gonzales murder. If confirmed, the extradition process can begin.
